Premiere: Big Hands – Loreto’s Bench [Beat Machine Records]
Big Hands. If you don’t know the name, make a mental note and pay attention. Experimental and dark, his aesthetic is likened to that of Bristol’s biggest named exports. You can hear it throughout the EP. The influence from producers such as Peverelist, Pinch and Joker runs deep but there’s a nuisance to his style that must come from hearing these sounds from a far. Taking inspiration from scenes and cities across the world whilst sticking to a theme which is close to his heart. “…Love and Politics” as he says.
Loreto’s Bench, the third track on the Italian native’s, Red / Greenline EP caught our attention as soon as it began. Made from a sonic pallet you’d expect Scratcha DVA to work from, it zips and drones along a shuddering, off-kilter kick taking you to the short but effective breakdown before it goes straight back into the relentless thuds that got you moving in the first place.
Red / Greenline EP is released via Beat Machine Records on May 11th.
